MEDEVAC Programme in Mauritania


The MEDEVAC Programme was implemented in Mauritania in the years 2019 and 2020. Besides 2 donations, 1 online training was carried out, which focused on educating experts in the field of infectology in connection with Covid-19.


The MEDEVAC Programme is currently not active in Mauritania.


2019

  • in cooperation with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), a project worth CZK 5 million was implemented with a focus on electrification and delivery of medical devices and basic medical consumables to medical centres in the towns of Bassikounou and Néma; the project also included training the medical staff in using the new equipment with the aim of generally improving the standard of healthcare in a region where the Mbera refugee camp is situated where refugees from Mali who fled violence in their country found refuge


2021

  • support of a follow-up project of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) aiming to equip two medical centres for surgical and obstetric care, to purchase laboratory equipment, to train the medical staff and to carry out an awareness campaign for local residents about the importance of prevention and timely medical care
  • 1 online training session with a focus on hospital epidemiology in connection with Covid-19, which was carried out in cooperation with IKEM and the Bulovka University Hospital and during which 6 experts received the training
