MEDEVAC Programme in Kenya
The MEDEVAC Programme was implemented in Kenya in the years 2015 and 2016 and then in the years 2021 and 2022. In total, 3 missions took place there in the specialised field of paediatric heart surgery, during which a total of 37 surgeries were carried out, mainly to treat congenital heart defects in child patients. In 2016, evacuations of 3 children to the Czech Republic for treatment were carried out, during which the training of 1 female physician and 1 female nurse also took place in cooperation with the Children's Cardiac Center at the Motol University Hospital.
In 2021, the MEDEVAC Programme supported, with a contribution amounting to CZK 5 million, a project of the Lutheran World Federation, which aimed to support secondary health care and rehabilitation in the Dadaab refugee camp.
