MEDEVAC Programme in Iraq
IRAQ
Implementation of the MEDEVAC Programme in Iraq started as early as in 2003; the initial action was evacuation of 45 persons, predominantly children, who suffered from extensive burns or heart defects. From the Programme’s budget, 10 medical projects were supported, particularly for purchase of medical devices and supplies. Furthermore, a traumatological mission of a team from the General University Hospital took place in Iraqi Kurdistan, during which a total of 10 patients were operated on.
The MEDEVAC Programme is currently active in Iraq; an educational stay of Iraqi healthcare professionals specialising in gynaecology will take place in late 2023.
