MEDEVAC Programme in Afghanistan
The MEDEVAC Programme was implemented in Afghanistan in the years 2008-2010 and then in the years 2018 and 2021. A total of 15 patients were evacuated from Afghanistan to the Czech Republic; 1 medical care project was supported from the Programme’s budget in response to the seizure of power by Taliban.
The MEDEVAC Programme is not currently active in Afghanistan.
2008-2010
- evacuation of 14 patients to the Czech Republic for treatment (heart conditions, burns, orthopaedics)
2018
- evacuation of 1 patient to the Czech Republic for treatment (Motol University Hospital Paediatric heart surgery)
2021
- financial backing of a project implemented by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to support primary healthcare for Afghans and internally displaced persons
